Rating  - Excellent standards, great show, great season
The hard reality is that Angel was a better show than Buffy (of course, there would not ever have been an Angel without Buffy).
Angel is much more well crafted than Buffy's (especially Buffy's last two seasons)and the characters and plots are more coeherent.
This third season is very good and reaaaaaaally dark. I thought Connor was an annoying character.
Rating  - Live fast. Die never.
Unlike the show's predecessor, BUFFY, I took a liking to ANGEL right away. However, it wasn't until the end of season two where the show truly came into its own and completely overshadowed BUFFY as being an even better spin-off. For me season three was the absolute best as it took a slightly darker turn, becoming more serious and dramatic. The episodes usually left one hanging, thirsting for more. And certain roles were given more depth to their character -- Wesley Price being the more obvious one. He brilliantly goes from the meak, clumsy brain of the team to becoming a tough, brooding outcast once his friends turn their backs on him after a betrayal brewed by deceitful lies.
Some lose their ways, others find their destiny's (or so they think), and nothing's ever quite as it seems. Season three marks a turning point for the show, leaving the shadow of BUFFY far behind.
Rating - Has bite!
I liked the first two seasons of Angel, but they were a bit wobbly here and there. By season three, things were really cookin', and as the story of Angel's son unfolded, I couldn't wait for the seven days to pass between each installment. This is the season where Angel really hit its stride, and it carried right on through to the end of the fifth and final season. Not a bum episode in the lot.
Rating - ANGEL SAVES THE DAY
This season of Angel was probably the best , simply because we forgot about his Sunnydale ties with Buffy. Angel continues to right the wrongs from his past as he struggles with his on going fight with "Wolfram and Hart". Some cameos from Buffy always add magic to an already magicial show.
