If you hang it in a good location where squirrels can't grab the perch ring so they can pull the feeder to them, it will be 100% effective. On the other hand, if you have racoons and they can reach any part of the feeder including the hanger, they'll twirl it around until either all the seed flies out or, if your connections aren't the tightest, the feeder comes off the hanger. Brome's customer service is terrific. Not having initially installed the feeder in a racoon-proof manner, the critters caused the feeder to fall two stories to the ground damaging the bottom slider assembly. Even though this wasn't covered by warranty, the assembly was replaced free of charge including shipping!

The bird feeder works well. We did have it knocked to the ground one evening and a perch screw was broken. We emailed Brome and received a telephone call from them the next day. Two perches screws and a perch ring were sent and at my door in four days.

Excellant.

PS: We reattached the bird feeder more securely and have had no more problems with it being knocked over.

- We are Busting Squirrels
We hung our bird feeder in a tree in our yard, and have been having fun watching the squirrels try hard to get the food. Still no success after 1 week. On the other hand we haven't seen too many birds feeding yet. Overall we are happy. Too soon to tell if it was worth the price.

LOVE this feeder. We've had it for a couple of years. At first we were hesitant to spend so much for a feeder, but already it has paid for itself in food not eaten in a day by the squirrels and in its sturdy construction.
