I've owned an 8500 x50 for almost a year now and can say that it is the most fantastic radar detector ever! It has paid for itself over and over again. The range is amazing! I'd highly recommend it to anyone. I'd also recommend getting the hardwire kit so you can put it up higher next to your rear view mirror.

I concur with the reviewers who wrote about the deterioration of the capacitors from daily sunlight exposure. Mine is three years old. I had it repaired a year ago for $60. Again it displays the "Service Required" message and is inoperable. Escort says it will cost me another $60. Enough! Get a BEL RX65 instead. That's what I'm going to do.
