Rating - TRACFONE IS THE WORST PREPAID SERVICE!
I feel bad even giving them a star! Please....-0 is more like it. Don't even contemplate this prepaid service despite any good review anywhere! I am not a complainer and usually do not write reviews on anything but I do believe in advertising bad service when a company deserves it and this one truly does. This is the absolute worst company I have ever dealt with!! For the last several years I have used Tracfone. I have never been fully satisfied with them but I learned to deal with them since I only use my phone for emergencies (only using it perhaps 5 times a year), I built up several hundred minutes buying 1 year prepaid cards.
Their customer service department is an absolute nightmare! It is difficult to understand the representatives and is extremely noisy in the background. You really have to strain to hear anything they are saying. One call will easily take 30 minutes or more every time you call no matter what you call for. (Actually, 30 minutes is probably a short call) I always dreaded renewing airtime. They go back and forth between their supervisors leaving you mostly waiting. And they make you enter a hundred thousand numbers for everything! They seem to keep no records of anything so you have to repeat all information every time you call. And I have never been able to activate my phone via the website. It's horrible! An absolute waste of time for no reason. Very poorly managed company! The icing on the cake is when they deactivated my phone in the middle of my yearly service and would not reactivate it unless I bought more airtime. I had many months of airtime left and over 500 minutes!!!! (clearly shown on my cell phone display) Why would I need to purchase another airtime card? They obviously had their records mixed up (if they actually keep any) and cut my phone off in error, but they were not about to admit they made a mistake. I was obviously very frustrated over the situation but at the same time it was a blessing not to have to deal with them again! Goodbye Tracfone!
Rating - Believe The Worst Reviews
Wish I'd read the reviews here before I let these clowns rip me off. As one reviewer wrote, perhaps they're just idiots (I'm not so trusting - I think they're knowingly running a scam). In any case - believe ALL the bad things you've read here - this is a company you want to avoid at all costs. Their product is lousy, their customer service is worse (maybe if you speak whatever language they speak it would be okay), & I've yet to be able to get the minutes I've paid for via their website onto my phone. I'm hoping I can get my bank to stop payment on anything they've taken from me. IMO, they've STOLEN money from me.

My wife and I have been Tracfone users for 7 years. Last month I did a research on all prepaid wireless plans. The result is we are now T-Mobil customers and I hate the fact I didn't do the research earlier. The facts:
1. Tracfone give you cheap phones and ask you to pay a lot. T-Mobile prepaid gave me a Nokia 6101 for free and my wife a Nokia 5300 XpressMusic phone for 140.00.
2. When you pay 100.00, Tracfone give you 1 year service and 250 min, T-Mobile gives you 1000 min and 1 year service. What's even better, you only need to pay 10.00 for the second year.
The choice was pretty easy for me.
Rating - DON'T CHARGE ANYTHING AT TRACFONE WEBSITE!!
I've had my tracfone for a couple months in Portland OR - it works fine for occasional use, which is all I need. But when I tried to buy another year and 400 units on their website, the site kept telling me that my charge transaction wouldn't go through, so I kept trying again. Then I called Customer Service, twice - polite people, but same language problems others have reported - and they couldn't get it to work either.
So I haven't received one single extra Tracfone day or unit, and now guess what? ALL those "non-completed" charges have shown up on my Visa bill!! I'm not even going to deal with Tracfone's Customer Service on this - I'm just calling Visa and disputing all those charges. Good thing Visa protects me on this, or I'd be out a ton of money.
I'll probably still use my tracfone - I actually like the concept - but I'll just buy a card for days/units at a store. I don't think the Tracfone company is purposely dishonest, I just think it's massively incompetent and badly designed.
